Obituary for Charles F. Schwei

Charles F.  Schwei
Charles F. Schwei, 96, of Kingsford, Mich. passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014, at the Hyland Nursing Home, Iron Mountain, Mich.

He was born January 11, 1918, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Tsleabusching) Schwei.

Charles grew up in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1936. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in October, 1945. Charles married Betty Cory in Battle Creek, Mich. in August of 1946 and they resided in Iron Mountain. He worked for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier. Charles was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church, Kingsford and the American Legion Post No. 363, Kingsford.

He enjoyed gardening, cooking, karaoke and riding around in his red convertible, the Green Bay Packers, watching golf on television and spending time with his grandchildren.

Charles is survived by two daughters, Donna (Doug) Lantagne, Niagara, Wis. and Joan (Ken) VanAbel, Niagara; six grandchildren, Christine (Dean) Hamacher, Laura Lindlbauer, Brent (Cathey) Larson, Thad (Jodi) Larson, April Larson and Jeremy Giancola; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and life-long friend, Cliff.

In addition to his parents and wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by one son, John Schwei and two brothers, Joe and John Schwei.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church, Kingsford. Rev. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. Burial will be in Powers-Spalding Cemetery in the spring.
