Obituary for John A. Harju

Crystal Falls-John A. Harju, 73, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his home in the loving arms of his wife, Nancy, as he wished. He was born December 22, 1942 to the late Oliver and JoAnn (Kudwa) Harju. John was a lifelong resident of Crystal Falls and a graduate of the Alpha-Porter School, Class of 1960.

He married Nancy Lohela, June 4, 1994 on the family farm. John retired from the Crystal Falls Power Plant after 20 years with the City.

He was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church. John lived to make people laugh and was always telling jokes. He enjoyed deer hunting with his wife Nancy on the family farm.

Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy, of Crystal Falls; three daughters, Lisa (Scott) Ebner of Gladstone, Mich., Tracey Harju of Gladstone, Mich. and Connie (Steve) Nelson of Verona, Wis.; two step-daughters, Jennifer (Steve) Taylor of Texas and Amy Lyn (Kate) Howe of San Diego, Calif.; two step-sons, Frank J. Londowski III of Fond du Lac, Wis. and Jerry (Jennifer) Londowski of Princeton, Wis.; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Dalton, Mark and Johnie; and one sister, Kathryn (Jim) Ball of Crystal Falls, Mich. John is also survived by one niece Kim, one nephew Aaron, Auntie Rosie , Auntie Elaine and Auntie Evelyn and by many cousins and beloved friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 2, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home with 10:45 a.m. prayers. Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Fr. Jose Maramattam will officiate. Burial will take place in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Pall Bearers include; Brian Pratt, Jerry Londowski, Tony Kudwa, Ray Kudwa, Jim Ball and Mike Alexa.
