Obituary for Arthur R. "Art" Dumais

Arthur R. "Art"  Dumais
Arthur R. “Art” Dumais, 58, of Niagara, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.

He was born April 28, 1957, in Iron Mountain, son of Joseph and Ruth (Wiegle) Dumais.

Art grew up in Kingsford and graduated from Kingsford High School, Class of 1976. He married Shelley McLain on December 18, 1996, in Iron Mountain. Art was a master mechanic; he worked for Edwards Automotive, managed Midas, was part owner of A&M Excavating Company and drove truck for L.R. Vincent. He and his wife, Shelley, owned and operated daycare centers in Niagara and Florence and presently they own and operate The Fence Post in Fence and Café Java Rayz in Norway.

He enjoyed photography, riding motorcycles, electronic gadgets of all kinds, woodworking, scuba diving, was president of the U.P. Mud Drags, and was a member of both the Merriman Sportsman’s Club and Niagara Lions Club. His biggest enjoyment were his children and going to his cabin where he loved watching the river.

Art is survived by his mother, Ruth Dumais, Kingsford; his loving wife of 18 years, Shelley; one son, Russell Dumais, Norway; two daughters, Cassandra (Andrew) Wils, Green Bay, Wis. and Kayla Dumais, Niagara; one brother, Al Dumais, Peavey Falls; two sisters, Patricia Gazza, Calif. and Cindy (Rick) Rugg, Peavey Falls ; one grandson, Kaden and many numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph; one brother, Joseph and one nephew, Daniel McLain

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.

A memorial will be established in Art's memory.
