Gingerbread Men

I can smell the kitchen now.  Wood fire going in the old fashioned wood stove.  Cinnamon roll dough rising in a bowl with a towel covering it.  The little white stool behind the stove to keep us warm during the cold winter.  "Nana, is it time yet?"  "Not quite" she says.  "Hmpf".  Tired of waiting, I go to the middle room and see Gramps sitting in the chair.  Let the games begin.  "Catch me Gramps!", I would yell.  He couldn't get up and run, but just by putting his hand out, I would squeal and run to the otherside of the room.  Many times I fell on the slippery linoleum floor.  Finally I hear, "Tracer, it's ready".  Woo Hoo!  Time to make my gingerbread man.  (It's not really gingerbread, but better.  It's cinnamon roll dough.)  Nana makes the log-looking shape.  Then she says, "Pinch the neck to make a head".  I pinch but not quite enough.  She fixes it for me.  Then she takes the sissors and clips for the arms and legs.  I get to separate them.  Now the fun part.  Putting the face on and putting the buttons on.  So many things to choose from.  Chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, raisins, etc.  "DONE!", I exclaim.  Into the over my man goes.  Time to play with Gramps some  more.  I hear the timer go off and know my man is ready to come out of the oven.  Just have to wait for it to cool off.  Yummy!!  This memory will always be with me.  I hope I can get a copy of that recipe.  I would love to make my gingerbread man again in honor of Nana.  Thank you God for allowing me to have such a cool Nana.  :)
