Obituary for JoAnn L. Harju (Kudwa)

JoAnn L.  Harju (Kudwa)
JoAnn L. Harju, 89, of Crystal Falls, passed away, Monday, November 17, 2014, in Green Bay, Wis.

She was born April 1, 1925, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late John and Mary (Dybas) Kudwa.

JoAnn was a life-long resident of Crystal Falls. She attended Crystal Falls High School until the eleventh grade. JoAnn was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls.

She spent her life as a homemaker, working together with her husband, Oliver, on the Harju family farm. She also worked at the Crystal Manor for ten years as a house keeper. JoAnn was a hard worker who enjoyed using her power saw and tractor for cutting wood for the winter. She enjoyed making quilts, crocheting afghans, doilies shawls and tailoring for friends and family. For many years JoAnn and Oliver toured the country on their Harley Davidson and their favorite quote was “let’s ride”. She loved planting flowers and for the Christmas Season enjoyed decorating her entire yard with lights.

JoAnn is survived by one son, John (Nancy) Harju, Crystal Falls; one daughter, Kathryn (James) Ball, Crystal Falls; one brother, Louis (Elaine) Kudwa, Crystal Falls; one sister, Rose Kozol, Crystal Falls; five grandchildren; Lisa, Tracey, Connie, Kimberly and Aaron; eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Dalton, Mark, John, Evan, Ayden and Olivia.

In addition to her parents and husband, Oliver, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Joseph and John Kudwa; three sisters, Eva Klaczak, Stella Pietrazek and Jennie Skiba; one great-grandson, Dylan Ball.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 21, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Visitation will also be held Saturday, November 22, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Prayers will be recited 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Kurtz will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in the spring.

The family has chosen the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls to honor JoAnn’s Legacy of Life.
