When my good neighbors, the Marcinaks, moved to Lake Mary, I was worried about who might move in next door. To my surprise, a great couple from Milwaukee moved in. They were originally from Crystal Falls, and both liked and enjoyed many of the same activities that I did. One of those activities that Eddie enjoyed was blueberry picking. He was a great companion in the quest for the blue perfect food.
My knees and back do not allow me to pick for a long period of time, and Eddie also had knee and back trouble. We would go out for 1 to 2 hours which would do us for the day, but that little bit of time would also allow us to go out the next day if we chose to do so. On the way home from the woods, we would admire our berries and plan for the next time and place to resume our quest. It was a very enjoyable time for me.
Eddie liked the berries not so much for himself, but he liked having them in the freezer for when his grandchildren came to visit. Going out and picking when a person has a sore back and knees in order to please his grandchildren showed what a good man he was.
I miss those blueberry picking trips with Eddie, but now he can pick them without the pain his earthly body gave him.
