Obituary for Mervin Donald Bianchetti

Mervin D. Bianchetti, 83, of Kenosha, Wisc., formerly of Iron Mountain, Mich. died Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Kenosha Memorial Hospital, Kenosha, Wisc.

He was born on January 5, 1935, in Iron Mountain, Mich. son of the late John and Palmira (Oradei) Bianchetti. Mervin graduated from Iron Mountain High School class of 1953, where he excelled in football. He moved to Kenosha where he worked as a butcher for a short period of time before serving our country in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge from the service, he went on to attend Northern Michigan University where he received his bachelor's degree in secondary education. Mervin taught at Bradford High School, Kenosha, Wisc. history and government for over 30 years before retiring. He was known by his students as Mr. B. Mervin enjoyed traveling, football and horse racing.

He is survived by one brother John (Donna) Bianchetti, Munising, Mich.; one sister Lorraine Hicks, Iron Mountain, Mich.; three nephews Michael (Debrah) Bianchetti, Gary Bianchetti, Stephen (Shelly) Hicks; three nieces Pamela (David) Johnson, Julie (Jeff) Buchmun and Katherine Bianchetti-White; and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Anita Bianchetti-Andreini; and by two brothers-in-law, William “Red” Hicks and August Andreini.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 13 from 9:00 am – 10:30 am at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. Prayers will be recited Wednesday 10:30 am at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iron Mountain, Mich. Rev. Fr. Ray Valerio will officiate, burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, Mich. The Uren Cooper Johnson American Legion Post #50, Iron Mountain, will accord military honors at graveside.

The family would like to especially thank Mervin’s neighbor Christine Schmelling and her family for their care and concern over the years.
