Obituary for Mary T. Morin (McHugh)

Mary T. Morin (McHugh)
Iron Mountain-Mary T. Morin, age 88, of Greenfield, Wis., a former long-time resident of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away on July 11, 2018, at Aurora Zilber Family Hospice Care Center, Wauwatosa, Wis., surrounded by her children.

She was born Mary Therese McHugh on July 31, 1929, in Oak Park, Ill. Mary moved to Hollywood, Florida at age 10, following the death of her father. She attended Barry College in Florida where she majored in music and piano. Mary then moved to New York City where she worked for Whitehall Pharmaceutical before returning to Hollywood, Florida where she met Robert Morin, who was visiting a mutual friend from Upper Michigan. The rest, as they say, is history. Mary and Bob married on January 23, 1954 and relocated to St. Ignace, Mich. Their journey eventually took them to Iron Mountain, Mich. in 1966 where they would live for the next 41 years.

Mary was a lifelong musician and was a member of Matinee Musicale (a local music club), the Dickinson County Community Chorus, and the choir at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she and Bob were parish members for over 40 years. She enjoyed golfing and she and Bob held a membership at Pine Grove Country Club for many years. Mary loved to dance, was an avid card player, and a master at Scrabble.

She is survived by her son, Bob (Wendy); her daughters, Peg, Judy (Brian) McDonough and Kathy; as well as her 5 grandchildren, Liam, Riley, and Bridget McDonough, Blase and Trent Morin; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bob, her eldest daughter, Mary Noel, her parents, William and Cecelia McHugh, and three brothers, Bill, Jack, and Ted McHugh.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain, Mich. Rev. Fr. Janusz Romanek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Aurora Zilber Family Hospice Care Center, (aurora.org/thankyou. Notification address: judymcd23@gmail.com) in Mary's name.
