Obituary for Gayle Marie Waldeck (Gramm)

Iron Mountain/Florida – Gayle Marie Waldeck (Gramm) passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers, Mich. at the age of 75. She had family by her side and George Strait playing on CD. Gayle was born January 13, 1944 in Norway, Mich. She is the daughter of the late William and Norma (Marinello) Gramm and the mother of Hans Waugen of Niagara, Wis. When Gayle was nine years old, she moved from Loretto, Mich. to Munising, Mich. where she graduated from Mather High School in 1962. She then proceeded to move to Fullerton, Calif. where she lived until moving her family in June 1983 to Fence, Wis. to be closer to family. Gayle worked as an accountant for Anderson Tackman & Co. in Iron Mountain until she retired on November 11, 2010.

Gayle loved spending time with family, especially her granddaughters Hannah, Morgan, and Hailee Waugen and her great niece/goddaughter Rachel Coughlin. She enjoyed reading, camping, riding the Harley, crocheting, eating out with family, ice cream, and she was a proud Green Bay Packer fan.

After retirement, Gayle and her husband, Larry Waldeck, of 38 years together, wintered in Florida and became residents of Wildwood, Fla. Larry preceded her in death April 11, 2014 at which time she moved back to live with family due to her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease. Gayle will be remembered as a beautiful person, inside and out, so loving and very precious to us all.

In addition to her parents and husband Larry, Gayle was preceded in death by her in laws Hans and Phoebe Waugen; brothers-in-law Adolph Schindler, George Branback, John Waugen; and her former husband and father of Hans, Arne Waugen.

She is survived by her son, Hans Waugen (Hannah, Morgan, Hailee) of Niagara, Wis.; step-son, Michael and Brandy Waldeck of Kirkersville, Ohio; her sisters, Ruth Schindler of Shawano, Wis. and Geraldine Branback (Michael Boskovitch) of Wildwood, Fla.; her brothers, William Gramm of Dallas, Tex. and Dennis (Jeanie) Gramm of Munising, Mich.; sister-in-law Joanne Waugen of Anaheim, Calif.; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of funeral services, we ask all who wish to participate in honoring Gayle’s light and love and her passion for reading, to pass along a book to share.
