Ellen A. Foucault, 81, of Crystal Falls, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountain.
She was born on February 6, 1927, in Amasa, Mich., daughter of the late Andrew and Selma (Kuopamaa) Lahti. She married Harold Foucalt on Feb. 11, 1944, in Crystal Falls. They both resided in Crystal Falls. Harold and Ellen celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Feb. 11, 2008.
Ellen worked as a nursing assistant for the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls for 18 years, retiring in 1973. She was a very active member of United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls. Ellen enjoyed gardening, she was an accomplished seamstress, and especially loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed going to the casino with her friends.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Harold; one son, Harold (Carol) Foucault, Crystal Falls; one daughter, Debbie (Jim) Zaupa, Crystal Falls; one brother, John Lahti, Iron Mountain; two grandchildren, Shaun (Nicole) Zaupa and Jesse Zaupa both of Crystal Falls; one great-granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Zaupa; many other nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 8, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls and on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. The funeral service will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
