Obituary for Charlotte Belle Bosko (Ponchaud)

Charlotte Belle Bosko (Ponchaud)
Crystal Falls: Charlotte Belle Bosko, 90, of Crystal Falls, MI., passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Aspirus Hospital, Iron River, MI. Beloved mother, Terry (Lisa Durr) Bosko, Crystal Falls Karen (Mark Bomberg) Erickson, Gladstone, MI; and grandmother of Cameron Phillips and Sarah (Jordan) Stanek, both of Crystal Falls.

Charlotte was born on June 20, 1927, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Frank and Ethel A. (James) Ponchaud.

Char grew up in Crystal Falls and was a graduate of Crystal Falls High School, Class of 1945. She was a lifetime caregiver and started as an aide at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. Char advanced her career to an LPN and was an early graduate of the Bay De Noc LPN Program, and worked as an LPN at the Crystal Falls Memorial Hospital. She received her RN degree in her later years, graduating from Lake Superior State University. Her first job as an RN was overseas in Saudi Arabia. When she returned from Saudi Arabia, she worked for Bell Memorial Hospital in Ishpeming until her retirement. Char then returned to Crystal Falls and resided in her favorite place, the Dunn Location in which she would tell you many stories about past social events and activities. She lived in the home that she built with John Bosko.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Crystal Falls and an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed flower gardening and watching birds, always waiting for her Baltimore Orioles to return each spring. Char was first mate to Leonard “Tip” Tipolt, who preceded her in death. They were avid Lake Superior boaters and golfers.

In addition to her parents, Char was preceded in death by brothers Edward, Hubert, David, William and Earl Ponchaud; and by sisters Sadie Parson, Frances Baratono, Liz Righter, Myrtle McGregor, Agnes Hulko, and Thurza Ponchaud. Char was dedicated to her family and researched the family history.

She is survived by her sister, Loretta Nunn, Crystal Falls and several nieces and nephews, and brother -in-law Eugene McGregor.

A grave side service will be held at the Ponchaud Family grave site on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, Mich.

In Char’s memory, donations can be made to the Alpha Senior Center where Char spent many happy hours socializing with friends.
