Obituary for Janet K Niggeling

Florence – Janet K. Niggeling, 72, of Florence, Wisc. passed away, Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at her home.

She was born on October 16, 1944, in Waukegan, Ill. daughter of the late William and Delores (Anderson) Hill. She grew up in South Milwaukee, Wisc. and graduated from South Milwaukee High School.

Janet married James P. “Phil” Niggeling on May 2, 1964, in South Milwaukee. They resided in South Milwaukee for a few years, Marquette, Mich., Shawano, Wisc., Iron Mountain, Mich. from 1979 until they made Florence their permanent home in 1990. She along with her husband, owned and operated Bobcat Video, Subslingers, and the Arts and Crafts shop in downtown Florence. Janet enjoyed painting, cooking, and especially spending time with her family.

She owned and operated a home shelter as well as a foster care home for 15 years in Iron Mountain and Marquette. Janet cherished the many years she spent as a caregiver for her brother Jon.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Phil; two sons Nick (Tina) Niggeling, Antigo, Wisc., Jason (Yana) Niggeling, Townsend, Wisc.; one daughter Dawn (Donald) Hirn, Florence, Wisc.; one brother Jon Hill, Florence; nine grandchildren Ryan, Emily, Zachary, James, Andrew, Ava, Ian, Ali and Ema.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded by one brother Jim Hill and one sister Joan Hill.

In accordance with Janet’s wishes private family services were held.
