Obituary for Arlene Louise Smith (Buzzo)

Spread Eagle – Arlene L. Smith, 76, of Spread Eagle, Wis. passed away Friday, July 28, 2017, at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay, Wis.

Arlene was born on September 13, 1940, in Iron Mountain, Mich., daughter of the late Ellsworth and Agnes (Rihtershick) Buzzo. She grew up and attended school in Iron Mountain. Arlene married Howard Smith on January 12, 1957, in Iron Mountain; he preceded her in death January 1, 2011. They resided in Aurora, Wis. until they moved to Spread Eagle in the late 1970’s. She worked at the Big Boy Restaurant, Iron Mountain; Golden Living Center, Florence, and the Florence County Aging Commission.

Arlene enjoyed knitting, puzzles and Facebook but most of all spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by one son Howard (Pam) Smith, Spread Eagle; two daughters Doris Smith, Aurora, Wis. and Kathy (Doug) Koch, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; one brother Michael (Nancy) Mitchell, Paradise, Mich.; one sister JoAnn Nanninga, Maryhill Manor; seven grandchildren Jen (Aaron)Renquin, Kimberly Smith, Sarah Smith, John (Cassandra) Olson, Heather Olson, Adam Olson and Shiela Annear; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Howard; Arlene was preceded in death by her step father Earl A. Mitchell.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 9:30am until 11:00am at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to the compassionate staff of Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, specifically the 4th floor nursing staff, the team of doctors and oncology staff, and the loving care of Unity Hospice during this sudden and swift illness.
