Obituary for Robert J. "Bob" Anderson

Robert J. "Bob"  Anderson
Florence- Robert J. “Bob” Anderson Sr., 78, of Florence, Wis., passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at his home.

He was born May 25, 1938 in Florence, son of the late Elmer and Mable (Soderberg) Anderson. Bob is a lifelong resident of Florence and graduated from Florence High School, Class of 1957. He holds the record for the most points scored in a high school basketball game, 54 points. Bob served in the Army National Guard for 2 years.

He married Evelyn Sandberg on August 30, 1958 in Fence, Wis. Bob worked for the Peninsula Beverage Company, City Sales, Milwaukee Journal and the Iron Mountain Daily News as circulation manager for 12 years. When approached by residents of Florence County, he ran for county clerk and served Florence county for over 20 years, retiring in 2000. Bob attended the First Presbyterian Church, Florence.

He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, spending time at camp, and hunting elk, antelope and mule deer out west. Bob mostly cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn; one son, Robert (Michelle) Anderson Jr., Florence; two daughters, Becky (Ron) Wilcox, Florence and Dawn (Chris) Plier, Florence; two brothers, Bill (Rose) Panek, Florence and Joe (Jean) Panek, Aurora; one sister, Shirley DeLano, Milwaukee, Wis.; six grandchildren, Jamie, David (Katie), Matthew, Jesse (Amanda), Megan (Josh), Steven and Johnathan; nine great-grandchildren, Baily, Lucas, Mara, Amanda, Emily, Chloe, Ozzy, Vincent and Lincoln; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob, was preceded in death by two brothers, Ken and Dean.

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, private family services will be held.
