Magical Healing Powers

I am so sorry to hear of Bruno's passing.  He was a truly great man who had a profound effect on my life.

The day my father was killed in a car accident in 1972, assistant principal Bruno came up to get me from 6th hour English class. The whole class razzed me as they thought I was in trouble when Bruno called me out.  As I left the classroom with him, he put his arm around me and took me toward my locker.  What he said to me was more comforting than any Dr. or Minister could have said.  The skill with which he was able to deal with this tragedy was unbelievable.  When I began gathering books to study from my locker, Bruno said, "son, you don't have to study tonight." I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the way Bruno dealt with this most difficult situation.

Another time, during cross country season, coach Norman Andrew saw me limp off the bus in the morning.   He asked me what was wrong and I told him it was a swollen knee. Since my family didn't have much money for a Dr., I was examined by Dr. Bruno before practice that day because Norm called him down to the locker room. He poked and prodded my knee and shook it around a little, then told me to just jog a mile that day and by the next day it would be better.  Sure enough, by the next day the water on the kneecap was gone and i was able to run in the UP Finals that Saturday. As was the standard every year in that era, Ishpeming won the class AB finals  thanks to Bruno's magical healing skills.  I always felt he missed his calling.

Keith Gaboury, who still has a fabulous memory has shared many stories of Bruno with me, and I hope he is able to make it to the funeral and share some of those stories with you.

I am sorry for your loss, as he touched many people along the way, and I am one of them.  He was one of the people who instilled the confidence in me to achieve what I have been able to accomplish in life. Rest in peace, Bruno. You are in my heart forever.

Dr Lloyd Hooper  Ishpeming Michigan.
