Obituary for Marilyn L. Baker (Anderson)

Marilyn L.  Baker (Anderson)
Crystal Falls-Marilyn L. Baker, 89, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2016 at her daughter’s residence in Norway, Mich.

She was born February 25, 1927 in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Axel and Ina Ellen (Thompson) Anderson. Marilyn grew up in Ironwood and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School, Ironwood, Class of 1945. On April 5, 1947 in Appleton, Wis., she was united in marriage to Gordon W. Baker. He preceded her in death in 1999. Marilyn and Gordon moved from Appleton, Wis. to Ironwood, Mich. and in November of 1962 to Crystal Falls. She worked as a CNA for Crystal Manor for many years and did custom drapes for many years in the Crystal Falls area.

Marilyn enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and ice skating. She also enjoyed golfing and was a Lady’s Club Champion and past president of the Crystal Falls Golf League. Marilyn attended Guardian Angels Catholic Church and was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary, Crystal Falls. She had an awesome sense of humor and loved to tell wonderful stories and was full of life. Marilyn will be missed by all who knew her.

Marilyn is survived by three daughters, Susan Aberly, Norway, Diane (Larry) Thorpe, Toivola, Mich. and Jayne (Doug) Schmidt, Big Rapids, Mich.; one daughter-in-law, Dona Baker, West Salem, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Daniel, Diane Jayne (David), Bryan (Kelly), Heather (Adam), Kristen (Michael), Mark Lee, Steven and Derek; fourteen great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Jon, Dylan, Ayanna, Ethan, Christian, Paul, Cassie, Carl, Patrick, Aubree, Adelyn, Braylan and Carly; and by one great-great-granddaughter, Laura Jayne.

Along with her parents and husband, Gordon, Marilyn was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Baker; one brother, Bernard Anderson and one granddaughter, Adriane Lee Baker

A visitation will be held Monday, November 14, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Jose Maramattam will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
