Obituary for Ronald Christopher Freudinger

Iron Mountain – Ronald Christopher Freudinger, 73 of Norway, Mich. passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.

He was born August 1, 1943 in Chicago, Ill, son of the late Charles and Angela (Rash) Freudinger.

Ron attended De LaSalle Institute High School in his hometown of Chicago.

He was hired as an apprentice for Hollingshead Oldsmobile in Chicago, which at the time was Chicago’s largest Oldsmobile dealer. Ron later became the head manager of the maintenance department at Hollingshead. He moved to Niagara, Wis. in the early 1970’s. Ron later moved to Norway where he owned and operated Ron’s Amoco gas station which had two of the busiest services bays in the Upper Peninsula. Most recently Ron had been working at Greased Lightning Auto Lube in Norway.

Ron enjoyed in his younger years drag racing in the Chicago area, snowmobiling and off road motorcycles. He loved helping people with their car needs but most of all will be remembered for his generosity as he donated to many organizations in the area.

He is survived by two brothers John V. (Tina) Freudinger, Plainfield, Ill and Raymond (Marion) Freudinger Cottonwood, Ariz; two sisters Angela Burke, Lansing Ill, and Marie B. Freudinger, Mesa, Ariz.; Special friends Jane and Greg. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and many other friends.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by three brothers Paul, Charles “Chuck”, and Francis Freudinger; three sisters Coletta Marshall, Marge Gibson and Virginia “Ginny” Bretall.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 4, 2016 from 6:00pm until 7:00pm at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held Friday, 7:00pm at the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate.
