Irene M. “Big I” Secinaro, age 89, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 at Freeman Nursing & Rehab Center in Kingsford surrounded by her family.

She was born October 1, 1927 in Iron Mountain to the late Carlo and Secondina (Brosio) Capra. She grew up in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School.

Irene married Alphonse “Fonzie” Secinaro on May 22, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2011.

She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Dickinson area Paisano Club, the Amidon Follies and the Menominee Range Historical Society. Irene enjoyed crocheting, oil and water painting, playing cards, basket weaving, quilting, organizing trips to the casino to play bingo along with her sister Jeanette, and spending time with her many friends and family. Not only did Irene attended many of her grandchildren’s school and sports activities but she also took an active part in raising them over the years.

Irene is survived by one son, Anthony (Karen) Secinaro of Iron Mountain, Mich.; one daughter, Cristine (Steven) Pascoe of Negaunee, Mich.; six grandchildren, Tony, Nate, Cassy, Kelly (Chris) Lunseth, Dane (Jenn) Pascoe and Katie (Ryan) Halvorsen; four great-grandchildren, Ella, Olivia, Macey and Chase; one brother, Lawrence Capra, Iron Mountain, Mich.; two sisters, Kathleen Bosilavitz, Escanaba, Mich. and Carol (Bob) Brodie, Naples, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, Robert Weaver, Kingsford, Mich. and Doug Moreau, Iron Mountain, Mich.; one sister-in-law, June Constantini, Iron Mountain, Mich.

In addition to her parents and husband, Fonzie, Irene was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Phillip Capra, and two sisters, Marceille Weaver and Jeanette Moreau, and one sister-in-law, Joyce Colten.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 17, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited Monday, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian burial will be held, Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.

A memorial in Irene’s name has been established with Family Ties, 800 Crystal Lake Blvd., Ste 112, Iron Mountain, MI 49801.
