Obituary for George Henry Hohol

George Henry  Hohol
George Henry Hohol, 88, of Niagara, Wisc., passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Jack and Engrid Meng Unity Hospice Residence, De Pere, Wisc.

He was born on April 22, 1928 in Niagara, son of the late Anthony & Elizabeth Hohol. He was the third youngest of 17 children. George graduated from Niagara High School in 1946 and married Louise Amond on April 23, 1949. They celebrated their 67th anniversary in April.

George was employed at Bourdalais Drug Store and the Village of Niagara. He then worked at the Niagara Paper Mill for over 40 years, retiring in 1989. He loved hunting, camping and fishing and was an all-around handyman. George had been a communion distributor and helped on funeral dinners at St. Anthony Catholic Church, volunteered for Karen’s Food Pantry and for the Niagara Historical Society.

George was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Frank (Marie), Walter (Frances), Edward (Gilda), Joseph (Luella), John, Stanley (Betty), Henry, Chester (Lucille and Char) and Anthony "Pat" (Nancy) Hohol; sisters Helen (Frank) Cabaj, Bernice (Rudy) Chromisky, Marian (Edmund) Krol, Stephanie (Bernard) Trottier, Stella (Perry) Fox, and Florence (Richard) Forsland.

George was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family so much and will be missed by all. He is survived by wife Louise; sons Michael (Sharleen), Dennis (Katherine), Steven (Kim), Bruce (Paula), and Mark (Reneé); daughters Christine (Sherman) Demeuse and Kathleen (John) Schoendorf; eleven grandchildren Tammy (Scott) Gleason, Brian (Amy) Demeuse, Michelle Hohol, David (Kate) Hohol, Sarah (Ben) Steel, Scot Hohol , Kallie Hohol, Kristie Hohol, Erica (Adam) Lester, Sonja (Bryan) Mandalfino and Valerie Hohol; and five great-grandchildren Elisabeth, Makayla, Lucas, Brooklynn, and Natalie. He is also survived by a sister Joan Whitelaw, sister-in-law Nancy Hohol, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 8, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 12:00 p.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery, Niagara. A lunch will follow at the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the “George & Louise Hohol” scholarship through the Niagara Area Scholarship Foundation.
