Obituary for Daniel E. Walker Sr.

Daniel E.  Walker Sr.
Niagara-Daniel E. Walker Sr., age 68, of Niagara WI, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at his home.

He was born on August 18, 1947 in Meeker, CO, son of the late Earl and Jeanette (Anderson) Walker. Dan graduated from Lockport High School, Class of 1966. He resided in Alaska, Texas and many other states during his younger years while his father traveled for work.

He went on to serve in the United States Army from 1967 until his Honorable Discharge in 1969. Dan married Deborah Sleeter on October 6, 1968 in Aurora, WI. While he was serving in the United States Army they resided in Bitburg, Germany. They then moved back to Louisiana where Dan worked in the oil fields, before moving to Niagara, WI in 1979.

While residing in Niagara, Dan worked as a welder.

Dan’s grandchildren meant everything to him and he enjoyed gardening with them, storytelling and singing and dancing. He was also a great cook and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Deb, one son, Daniel Walker Jr. of Marinette, WI, one daughter, Jennie Ayala of Reedsburg, WI; two brothers, Jeff (Julie) Walker of Lafayette, LA and John Walker of Tampa, FL; 5 grandchildren; Sabrina Ayala, Alex, Zach, Austin and Rachel Walker, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Dan was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Walker and two sisters, Jennie Walker and Earline “Lee” Bock.

Visitation will be held, Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Jacobs Funeral Home-Niagara Chapel. A celebration of Daniel's life will be Wednesday, 6:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Family and friends are invited for a lunch and gathering at the Niagara Township Hall, Hwy 8, immediately following the celebration of life.
