Niagara, Wis - Gladys M. Hansen, 91, of Pembine, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.

She was born on Nov. 28. 1924 in Waukesha, Wis. Daughter of the late John Viola (Schloemer) Zimmermann.

Gladys grew up in Milwaukee, Wis and attended school there. She worked for Allis Chalmers for a few years in Milwaukee. Gladys married Joseph Hazard in 1948 in Delafield, Wis. He preceded her in death in 1972. She also worked for S & B Manufacturing in Milwaukee for many years. Gladys moved to Oshkosh, Wis where she married George W. Hansen they later moved to Pembine in 1977. George preceded her in death in 1990.

Gladys was a long time member and considered Norway Senior Center as her second home. Gladys and her best friend Rose Marie Fergson were very instrumental in getting the craft class started on Mondays and grew big enough to add Thursdays. Still thriving and growing to this day, the craft class has donated $18,850.00 from January 2003 thru December 2015 from selling crafts.

Gladys is survived by two sons Robert (Jean) Hazard, Stone Bank, Wis, and George (Carol) Hansen, Niagara, Wis; two daughter Anita Drake, Madison, Wis and Mary (Jeff) Jansen, Las Cruces, NM; two sisters June Mischler of Rhinelander, Wis and Doris Pischel of Milwaukee, Wis; many grand-children, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents and husbands Joseph and George, she was preceded in death by one daughter ViNell Hazard; brother Elmer Zimmermann and one sister Audrey Mischler.

In accordance with Gladys’ wishes private family services were held.

Memorials in her memory can be made to the Norway Senior Center, 608 Main St., Norway, MI 49870, which would put a big smile on Gladys’ face.
