Obituary for Marie "Tootsie" Zanon (Tomasoski)

Marie "Tootsie"  Zanon (Tomasoski)
NORWAY, Mich. – Marie “Tootsie” Zanon, 76, of Norway, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016, with her family by her side, at Freeman’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kingsford.

She was born April 15, 1940, in Norway, daughter of the late Lawrence and Leona (Faull) Tomasoski.

Tootsie grew up in Norway and graduated from Vulcan High School, Class of 1958. Early on she worked at Menard’s Drive-In and Asselin’s Dairy in Norway. She then moved to Milwaukee where she worked for American Lace. Tootsie moved to the Neenah-Menasha where she married and started her family, worked for the Velcro Company and sold Tupperware. In 1977, she moved to Bark River where she worked for Elmer’s Super Market, D.J.’s Bakery and the Dell’s Supper Club.

In 2002, Marie moved back to Norway and became a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church. She will be best remembered for her fabulous cooking, cake decorating, ceramics, being a Girl Scout Leader and her love of NASCAR.

Tootsie is survived by three daughters, Theresa (Terry) Granquist of Norway, Gina Zanon of Escanaba, Mich. and Lia (Mike) Kelly of Norway; two brothers, George Tomasoski of Vulcan and Robert (Cindy) Tomasoski of Norway; one sister, Betty “Peachie” (James) Finn of Vulcan; six grandchildren, Brian, Matt, Brady, Ariel, Larisa and Tekla; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ansel and Cora; her God-Daughter and special niece, Candy Brew; her God-Son, David Zanon; numerous nieces and nephews and three very special friends, Tina Garb of Ford River, Mark Erickson of Bark River and Rose Cox of Escanaba.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 3, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Vulcan. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, 10:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Tim Ekaitis will officiate. Burial will be in Norway Cemetery, Norway.

She had many wonderful family members and friends she wished to thank for all of their love and support.

A memorial will be established in her memory.
