Obituary for Melba B. Padalino (Hoppenrath)

Melba B.  Padalino (Hoppenrath)
Iron Mountain, Michigan – Melba B. Padalino, 89 of Iron Mountain passed away Friday, May 20, 2016, at ManorCare Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Kingsford, Mich.

She was born October 15, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minn. daughter of the late Melville and Bessie (Anderson) Hoppenrath.

Melba grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from high school there. After graduation, she went to visit family in Iowa where she met the love of her life Charles Padalino and they married Nov. 2, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois where they resided all of their married life. While in Chicago, she was a Girl Scout leader, enjoyed bowling and playing cards and table games at the senior center. Charles preceded her in death in 1994, and in 2011, Melba moved to Iron Mountain to be closer to family.

She is survived by five sons, Martin (Sharon) Padalino, Chicago, Ill., Mike Padalino, Iron Mountain, Joseph (JoAnn) Padalino, Frankfurt, Ill., Charles (Suzanne) Padalino, Orland Park, Ill and Vincent Padalino, Green Bay, Wis.; three daughters, Carolyn (Patrick) Lind, Marseilles, Ill., Anita (Donald) Raddatz, Minooka, Ill and Michele (Thomas) Staszak, Mokena, Ill; four brothers, four sisters, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Charles, Melba was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Bardsley and one brother, Ricky (Virge) Hoppenrath.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 23, 2016, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be Tuesday, May 24, 2016, 1:30 p.m. at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, Illinois.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain to honor Melba’s Legacy of Life.
