Obituary for Kenneth J. Cardinal

IRON MOUNTAIN- Kenneth J. Cardinal, 88, of Niagara, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.

He was born March 12, 1928, in Niagara, son of the late Arthur and Albanna (Chamberlain) Cardinal.

Ken grew up in Niagara and attended school there; at a young age he worked for the Niagara Paper Mill. Ken moved to California where he met and married Phyllis Hankins. He then married Ruth in Los Angeles and she preceded him in death in 2005. While living in California he worked as a foreman for Culligan Soft Water; after retiring he moved to Las Vegas. In 2005, he relocated to Niagara; he married Joyce LaChapell on January 6, 2007, in Niagara. In his retirement years he enjoyed woodworking and his flower garden.

He is survived by his wife Joyce of Niagara; five sons, Kenneth James “Jimi” (Terri) Cardinal, Jr. of San Bernardino, Calif., Charles Cardinal of Nevada, David Cardinal of Nevada, Tim Cardinal of Calif. and Phillip (Jolynn) Cardinal of Nevada; three daughters, Kerri (Tom)Little of Nevada, Cindy (Kenny) Scott of Missouri and Holly (Bob) Fischer of Nevada; one brother, Richard Cardinal of Niagara and one sister, Aileen (Wayne) Lowis of Kenosha, Wis.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by one son, Darryl Cardinal in 1985.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Kingsford. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. David Wilton will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery in Niagara.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain to honor Ken’s Legacy of Life.
