Sonny J.  Burkart
FLORENCE, Wis. - Sonny J. Burkart, 23, of Florence, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis., surrounded by his family.

He was born October 21, 1992, in Iron Mountain, son of Jim and Tammy (DeLaruelle) Burkart.

Sonny was a loving person who loved being surrounded by his family and friends. He had a smile that lit up the room and a laugh that was contagious; he lived his life to the fullest. Sonny’s favorite things to do were spending quality time with his spoiled dog Janko and watching Sunday football. Although lately, his favorite past time was running the hospital hallways like they were streets, as Sonny put it.

He was the loving son of Tammy and Jim Burkart; little brother of Sharon Ann and Sheldon; big brother of Sadie and Salena; the special uncle of Tristan, Faith and Dylan; the best friend of his dog, Janko; grandson of Sharon and the late Tim DeLaruelle and Dorothy and the late Bill Burkart and the nephew of Tim, DeLaruelle, Ann Kaya and the late Todd DeLaruelle. Sonny also leaves behind very special friends, Dillion, Darren, Ted, Peggy, Jimmy D, Jesse and Brandon.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Commonwealth.
