Irene D.  Harris (Hein)
Irene D. Harris, 79, of Iron River, Mich., passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

She was born on March 9, 1936, in Battle Creek, Iowa, daughter of the late Frank and Effel (Koch) Hein. Irene grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek High School, class of 1954.

She married Dick E. Harris on July 8, 1956 in Elkpoint South Dakota.

Irene worked for many nursing homes and hospitals in the dietary departments in the Fargo, North Dakota area.

She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and especially the time she spent with her family and friends.

Irene is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Dick; four daughters, LaDonna Bethke, Sioux Falls, S.D., Sandi (David) Bertsch, Iron River, Mich., Tina (Doug) Herold, Casselton, N.D. and Linda (Scott) Beverson, Eden Prairie, Minn; one sister, Betty Newman, Iron River; seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn (Virgil) Bruhn, Phyllis (Gilbert) Davis and Ellen May Hein; one brother, Herb (Rose) Hein; one brother-in-law, Leland Newman and one grand-daughter, Shantel Herold.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain to honor Irene’s Legacy of Life.
