Diana J. Gatewood, 70, of New Haven, Mich. formerly of Amasa passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls.

She was born June 4, 1945, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Lawrence and Pauline (Bennett) Gill.

Diana grew up in Amasa and graduated from Amasa High School. She attended Northern Michigan University and received her meat cutting license. Diana married Nate Gatewood on December 23, 1985, in Clinton Township. They resided in New Haven where she worked as a meat cutter for many area grocery stores. In 2013, Diana relocated back to the Crystal Falls area.

She enjoyed singing, crocheting, cutting wood, was a great cook and enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Diana is survived by her husband Nate; two sons, Anthony (Teresa) Ball, Michigamme and Samuel Gatewood, New Haven; one daughter, Cheryl (Art) Rautio, Michigamme; six brothers, Gary “Todd” (Darlene) Gill, Marquette, Lowell (Marilyn) Gill, Lower Michigan, Sam (Alla) Gill, Colorado, Steven (Joann) Gill, Edmonton Alberta, Canada, Tom (Mary Beth) Gill, Florida and Edward Gill, Sawyer, Mich.; two sister, Susan Olson, Manistique and Valerie Gill, Michigamme; five grandchildren, Kasey, Alicia, A.J., Elicka and Lucas and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Don Gill and one sister, Mary Lee Leaf.

Private family visitation and services will be held at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls.
