Obituary for Sigrid S. Kauffman (Koski)
Sigrid S. Kauffman, 67, of Crystal Falls, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls.
She was born November 5, 1948, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Tauno and Ilona (Rajala) Koski.
Sigrid grew up in Crystal Falls and graduated from Crystal Falls High School, Class of 1967. Upon graduation, she enrolled in Bryant and Stratton Business College in Milwaukee, Wis.; she graduated in 1968. She worked for Tower Insurance Company as a typist/receptionist full time for about four years. Sigrid married Raymond “Butch” Kauffman on August 21, 1971, in Milwaukee; they resided there for 15 years before moving to Crystal Falls in 1982.
She was a member of United Lutheran Church. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, crocheting and crafts, especially weaving baskets. Sigrid could be found at numerous rummage sales and antique shows. She also enjoyed berry picking, a carry over, from her childhood days of picking with her brothers, neighborhood friends, and Hemppa, her great-uncle, on the gravel pit road. Sigrid enjoyed biking and taking long walks in the woods.
Sigrid is survived by her loving husband of fourty-four years, Ray “Butch”; one son, Mark Kauffman, Crystal Falls; one daughter, Laura Kauffman, Iron River, Mich.; three brothers, Victor (Virginia) Koski, Crystal Falls, Michael (Paulette) Koski, Wausau, Wis. and Earl (Bonnie) Koski, Crystal Falls and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Crystal Rose Kauffman.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 18, 2016, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate.
The family has chosen the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls to honor Sigrid’s Legacy of Life.
