Obituary for Helen C. "Duddie" Hetrick

Helen C. "Duddie" Hetrick
Helen C. Hetrick “Duddie” (nee Dalpra) of Milwaukee, Wis.

Our dearest “Duddie” was called to her heavenly home at the age of 99 by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 16, 2015.

Preceded in death by her husband, William Hetrick, Helen, now looks down upon her loving children, Pat (Bernadette), Mike (Sandi), Tim (Deborah), Tom (Carole), Bernie (Cindy), Mary, and Paul. She will also be truly missed by her 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many more devoted relatives and friends.

Born the youngest of 11 children on July 11, 1916 in Crystal Falls, Michigan, she moved to Milwaukee in 1941, married Bill soon after, and began a lifetime calling as the best mother anyone could want. Her skills as a talented seamstress, her reputation as a terrific cook, and her in-house training as a part-time referee count among the many reasons why she truly excelled at raising six sons and a daughter. Next to her lifelong mission as “Mom” she enjoyed most the years she worked at the Brookfield Public Library. An accomplished pianist, she relished sitting at her piano, singing with enthusiasm as she played. Helen cherished her little house in Crystal Falls, and spent as much time as possible there in her later years enjoying the area’s pristine beauty and sharing a glass of wine (or 2, or 3) with her many “Yooper” relatives and friends. Her smile, laugh, and positive philosophy of life, ever constant, will be remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.

Thanks to everyone at Cedar Springs Health and Rehab Center and AseraCare Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Helen’s name can be made to The Crystal Theatre (a 501c3 nonprofit) P.O. Box 275, Crystal Falls, Mi., 49920.
