Ernest E. "Nehi"  Vivio
Ernest “Nehi” E. Vivio, 80, of Vulcan, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015, at his home.

He was born February 27, 1935, in Norway, Mich. son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Guiliani) Vivio.

Ernie grew up in Norway and graduated from Norway High School, Class of 1954. He married Dolly Struebing on December 18, 1954, in Norway; she preceded him in death on March 23, 2013. in his early years, Ernie worked as a butcher in a grocery store and was later employed by the Pembine Mine, as a Foreman, until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, Vulcan. Ernie enjoyed rabbit hunting with his beagles throughout the years; he was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings. He loved his gardens and enjoyed spending time at camp on Benton’s Lake growing up. Ernie loved to play the accordion with Vivio’s Merry Makers.

Ernie is survived by six children, Ernest (Hilda) Vivio, Jr., Quinnesec, Mich., Linda (David Bray) Vivio, Norway, Susie (Mike) Grandaw, Pembine, Wis., Jim (Carol) Vivio, Vulcan, Karen (Keith) Dennis, Rockhill, S.C. and Spread Eagle, Wis. and Gary (Debbie) Vivio, Stephenson, Mich. and N.D.; two brothers, Kenneth Vivio and Donald (Cathrine) Vivio; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Struebing; twenty one grandchildren, Ed Vivio, Eric Vivio, Laura (Chris) Karle, Amber (Jason) Maahs, Heather (Tim) Schalk, Ashley (Austin) Hirte, Stacy (Greg) Kaiser, Brenda (Colby) DalSanto, Stacie (Mark) Vaher, Nichole (Kenneth) Knight, Michelle (Reece) Young, Mark Dennis, Ryan Dennis, Mindy (Mike) Kortendick, Matt (Ashley) Vivio, Andy (Erin) Vivio, Kimberly Vivio, Greg (Tia) Majkrzak II and Elicia (CJ) Paasch, Misty (Brian) Bottkol and Cassie (Matt) Allesandrini; thirty five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Vivio, Jr., Joseph Vivio and Clarence Vivio; one sister, Irene Verberg and one brother-in-law, Gerald Struebing.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Vulcan. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Fr. Timothy Ekaitis will officiate.
