Julius J. Glime
Julius J. Glime, 89, of Fence, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Hospital, Iron Mountain.

He was born May 17, 1926, in Lena, Wis. son of the late Julius and Mary (Janiquart) Glime.

Jule grew up in Lena and graduated from Lena High School, Class of 1944. He was drafted into the infantry of the United States Army and served for a year in Korea. While there, he helped build Quonset huts for the army. Jule married Cleo Pies on October 9, 1947, in Lena; she preceded him in death on August 10, 2013. Shortly after being married they moved to Florence, Wis., where they resided until moving to Fence in 1998.

After the service, he helped his father run the family farm. He drove truck transporting milk cans from farms in Armstrong Creek, Wis. to the dairy; he later started another route in Michigan. Jule went to work at the Mine in Florence; he hired helpers to run his milk truck business. When the Mine closed he went to work at K.I. Sawyer Air Base, Gwinn, Mich., there he helped build concrete silos for missiles. Jule later purchased a logging business and operated it until his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and Bocce Ball.

Jule is survived by four sons, Mike (Jacqie) Glime, Florence, Pat (Sue) Glime, Aurora, Bill (Patricia Staller) Glime, Kingsford, Mich., Jim Panek, Chico, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Jay (Lori), Lance (Sue), Travis (Kari), John (Sara), Mike (Debbie), Tiffany (Derrek), Nathan (Stephanie), Luke and Ashley; fifteen great-grandchildren; special nephew, Don (Dori) DeCleene and many other nieces and nephews.
