Carol A. Gauthier, 75, of Kingsford, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born December 29, 1939, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Arthur and Iva (Harvey) Johnson.

Carol was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1957. She went on to attend Northern Michigan University and received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Carol married Richard “Gokie” Gauthier on June 17, 1961, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2008. Carol worked for Dr. Kadletz and at the Oscar G. Johnson Veteran’s Hospital in Iron Mountain. She later worked, along with her husband, at Ed Gauthier and Sons, as their bookkeeper.

She was a longtime member of the Iron Mountain Elks Lodge and the Chippewa Club. Carol enjoyed golfing and boating on the lake but most of all cherished the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.

Carol is survived by two daughters, Michele (Jim) Skoglund, Appleton, Wis. and Kris (Rob) Lindstrom, DePere, Wis.; one son-in-law, Glen Church, Aurora, Wis.; one brother, Harvey (Margaret) Johnson, Spread Eagle, Wis.; one brother-in-law, Erv Pichalski, Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Kirsten and Luke Skoglund, Sami and Glenn Church, Emily and Tony Lindstrom; one great-grandchild, Brantley Church and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Gokie, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Roxanne, in 2009.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
