Obituary for Rainer M. "Ray" Herzberg

Rainer M. "Ray"  Herzberg
Rainer “Ray” M. Herzberg, 71, of Crystal Falls, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015, at Northstar Health System, Iron River, Mich.

He was born June 28, 1944, in Berlin, Germany, son of Erich and Charlotte (Stroske) Zimmerriemer.

Ray graduated from high school and went on to serve in the United States Navy. He worked at the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Hospital in Iron Mountain.

He enjoyed watching the Packers, Atlanta Braves Baseball, the Golden Girls, Vince Gill and Country Music. Ray especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family.

Ray is survived by his mother, Charlotte “Lotte” Porter, Crystal Falls; one daughter, Kim (Norm Johnson) Wilcox, and her children, Noah and Lily, Kingsford, Mich.; one son, Scott (Tracie) Herzberg, and their children, Tyler, Jacob and Cole, Traverse City, Mich., and his many friends (family) at the Iron County Medical Care Facility.

He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Erwin and Maria Herzberg and one brother, Norbert Porter.

A Celebration of Ray’s Life will be held Sunday, September 6, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. In honor of Ray’s love of football, the family requests that you wear Packers Clothing to his Celebration of Life. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Iron River.

The family has chosen the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls to honor Ray’s Legacy of Life.
