Obituary for Carol E. Schinderle (Ericson)

Carol E. Schinderle (Ericson)
Carol E. Schinderle, 90, of Iron Mountain, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on August 25, 2015.

Born in Iron Mountain, Carol graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1943. She attended North Park College in Chicago and received an Associate’s Degree in Business. She married Jake Schinderle in 1947, and they lived in Iron River, Mich. and owned Prentice Loader Sales.

Carol lived a life of fun and giving. She valued the mission of the Caring House, volunteered at the V.A. Hospital feeding the patients and often drove her friends to their doctor appointments. Carol was an amazing cook who loved making her traditional Swedish Christmas Eve meal. She enjoyed Scotch Golf at Pine Grove County Club and playing cards with friends from Spread Eagle.

Although her health was fading, she gathered enough strength to attend the recent marriage of her youngest grandson, Derrick Schinderle and Katie Roell. Her greatest joy was attending her four grandson’s weddings.

Carol is survived by one son, Dr. Mark (Dr. Aileen) Schinderle, Norway, Mich.; one daughter, Linda (Paul) Monson, Waukesha, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Anne Ericson; four grandsons, Jake (Elena) Schinderle, Madison, Wis., Dr. Derrick (Katie) Schinderle, Iron Mountain, Dr. Erik (Dr. Carly) Monson, Columbus, OH and Bryce (Christy) Monson, Columbus; special niece, Janie Santini; six nephews, Frank, Bob, Ken and Bill Ericson and Gary and Ronald Schinderle; three great-grandsons, Jack, Sam and Mark, and after waiting 36 years, she finally got her “little girl” with the birth of her great-granddaughter, Lily Monson.

She attended Grace Covenant Church in Stambaugh and the Norway Evangelical Covenant Church.
The family is especially grateful for the pastoral care of Pastor Kevin Sullivan and Pastor Jim Danielson. Words cannot express our gratitude to the staff at Victorian Pines and Hyland Nursing Home for their loving care and kindness and to Mary Jane Roell and her family for their sweet and daily visits.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jake (November 20, 1998) and one brother, Robert Ericson.

A family service will be held.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain to honor Carol’s Legacy of Life.
