Obituary for Pauline Shumard (Ward)

Pauline  Shumard (Ward)
Pauline Shumard, 85, of Crystal Falls, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.

She was born August 16, 1929, in Berry Township, Illinois, daughter of the late Charles and Goldi (Holler) Ward.

Pauline grew up in Gibson City, Ill. She married Troy G. Shumard on July 31, 1948, in Bement, Ill. They resided in Decatur, Ill. from 1953 until 2005. In 2005, they moved to Gladstone, Mich. and resided there until moving to Crystal Falls in 2013. Pauline was a seamstress for the Cap and Gown Company in Champaign, Ill. for 15 years. She was an active member of Grace Baptist Church, Gladstone. Pauline was an avid gardener and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Troy; one son, Rick (Linda) Shumard, Crystal Falls; one sister, Gail (Ed) Oswald, Monticello, Ill.; two grandchildren, Scott and Aimee and one great-granddaughter, Laura.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Ward and two sisters, Luella Eades and Betty Durbin.

Graveside services will be held at Elliott Township Cemetery, Elliott, Ill.

The family has chosen the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls to honor Pauline’s Legacy of Life.
