Sandra S. Waldo, 68, of Crystal Falls, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015, from injuries sustained in a fall at Horse Race Rapids in Iron County.

She was born September 21, 1946, in Chicago, Ill. daughter of the late Jerry and Elaine (Kachnak) Sika.

Sandra grew up on a family farm outside of Chicago but later resided in Chicago. She graduated from Gage Park High School, Class of 1964. Sandra married Gene Waldo on September 10, 1966, in Chicago. She went on to attend Michigan State University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1968. She taught in Grand Blanc, Mich., for a few years, and in 1971, took a teaching position in Chicago as an Elementary Librarian retiring in 2008. She along with her husband, Gene, moved to Crystal Falls in 2009.

She attended Lake View Bible Church, was an active volunteer with the Crystal Falls PTO, and attended most Forest Park sporting events. Sandra enjoyed the Swedish Pancakes at Fobs, the lunches at the Crystal Falls Senior Citizen Center as well as playing cards with her friends at the center and pottery. In the summers she and her husband travelled throughout the western United States visiting the National State Parks.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Gene; one son, Matthew Waldo, Crystal Falls and the light of her life, her grandson, Aiden.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Jason Hunsicker will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.

The family has chosen the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls to honor Sandra’s Legacy of Life.
