Obituary for Erma J. Ellingson (Lawrence)

Erma J.  Ellingson (Lawrence)
Erma J. Ellingson, 90, of Niagara, passed away Tuesday, April 07, 2015, at Maryhill Manor, Niagara.

She was born January 19, 1925, in Sabula, Iowa.

Erma grew up in Sun Prairie, Wis. and graduated from Sun Prairie High School. She married Henry Ellingson on March 27, 1948, in Sun Prairie; he preceded her in death on February 10, 2012. Erma worked for the State of Wisconsin in Madison. The couple resided in DeForest, Wis. for 25 years until moving to Pembine.

She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pembine and a member of the Niagara and Pembine Senior Citizen Centers.

Erma enjoyed crocheting, going to the casino, playing cards and was an avid Badgers, Brewers and Packers fan. Most of all she loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by three sons, Marty (Connie) Ellingson, Waunakee, Wis., Gary (Victoria) Ellingson, Orlando, Fla., and Jeffrey Ellingson, Middleton, Wis.; one daughter, Kathy (John) Schutte, Pembine, Wis.; one sister, Doris Ziegler, Sun Prairie; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Erma was preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Lawrence; one son, Michael Ellingson; two brothers, Everett and Louis Lawrence; three sisters, Fern Links, Betty Dettman and Hazel Maretz; two grand-children, Travis and Jennifer Ellingson and one great-granddaughter, Grace Schutte.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 9, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pembine. The Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Jeremy Nausin will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Madison on Friday, April 10, 2015, 12:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank Erma’s friends, including staff at Maryhill Manor for all the love, kindness and support shared with her over the past six years.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel to honor Erma’s Legacy of Life.
