Obituary for Lorraine A. Kososki (Anderson)

Lorraine A. Kososki (Anderson)
Lorraine A. Kososki, 91, of Niagara, left to be with the Lord on April 1, 2015, surrounded by her family.

She was born August 5, 1923, in Fergus Falls, Minn., daughter of the late Albert and Laura (Edihal) Anderson.

Lorraine graduated from Kingsford High School. She later studied classes in typing and business. Loraine married John James Kososki on December 27, 1941; they resided in Niagara. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1987.

She worked at Americana Nursing Facility for 23 years in the Food Service Department. Lorraine also worked for the Marinette County Library for two years. Upon retirement, she volunteered at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center where she earned recognition for hundreds of logged volunteer time. She also served on the Niagara Senior Citizen’s Ltd. Board for many years. Lorraine was very involved with the Senior Citizen Center and made many friends there.

Lorraine liked to sew, knit and crochet. Her crocheting ability was exceptional and she often created her own designs. She also liked to read, watch basketball, have weekly Packer parties at her daughter Carrie’s and son-in-law Steve’s home with friend Nancy Zigman, spend time at her cottage at East Bass Lake, and complete projects at the cottage with her daughter Linda. Lorraine also loved to play Smear and enter Smear tournaments with her partner Hazel DeForge, play Liverpool, go shopping with her daughter Chris in Atlanta and New York, and travel to new places such as France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Holland, Sweden and Norway. Being very proud of her Norwegian heritage, she thoroughly enjoyed attending a 1989 reunion in Oslo with her sister and son surrounded by over 40 members of her extended Norwegian family. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, seeing her doggy grandchildren (Lexus, Mazie, Dottie, Daisy, Molly) and making specialty dinners for parties and holidays.

She is survived by her children, John (Carol) Kososki, Columbia, S.C., Chris Johnson, Grand Chute, Wis., Linda Novitske of Appleton, Wis., Carrie Zigman (Stephen) of Niagara, grandchildren, Jeff (Leah) Kososki, Laura Kososki, Jennifer Johnson, great-grandchild, Julia Kososki and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, John, she was preceded in death by one sister, Camilla Konwinski; one brother, Robert Anderson and one dear son-in-law, Ervin Johnson.

All of her children feel blessed to have had Lorraine for their mother and will miss her greatly. The family would like to thank Dr. Mahadev and the staff at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital especially her nurses Leticia and Misty, for the excellent care given to her.

In accordance with her wishes a Celebration of Lorraine’s Life will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Niagara Senior Citizen’s Center. A lunch will be offered Saturday, 12:00 p.m. at the Senior Center.

Memorials can be made to the Niagara Senior Citizen’s Center, 569 Washington Ave., Niagara, WI 54151 in her memory.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara to honor Lorraine’s Legacy of Life.
