Black Friday

I would like to share my fond memories from when we were growing up and spending time at our Cabin on Patten Lake which was known as the "Fishermans Lake" which meant we didn't see many speedboats!!  We always enjoyed those trips over to Keyes Lake to visit with the Gardners and of course Water Ski!!  I last saw Don on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  I had started out very early that morning from Shorewood and was making my Black Friday run to Iron Mountain, Florenece, and Crystal Falls to drop some things off for thier respective Community Sharing Trees.  I ran into him at Steamin Joes Coffee Shop that morning and had a nice but brief visit.  He was super concerned about how Herm was doing as he continued to battle with a brain tumor at the time.  After bringing him up to speed I asked him how he was doing and his response will be etched in my mind the rest of my life.  His exact quote was "David it's kind of like this.  They can fix alot of things, but they can't fix old"!!  I left feeling really good about seeing him that morning and was able to share this story with my father!!  We will miss seeing Don in Church and the Trading Post.  He will be missed by the Florence Community and by his freinds from Lake Patten, the Buechel's.  My Sincere Condolanmces, Dave Buechel
