Obituary for Frank A. Peterson

Frank A.  Peterson
Frank Aaron Peterson, 85, of Niagara, passed away peacefully Friday, March 13, 2015, at his home with his family at his side.

He was born March 17, 1929, in Niagara, son of the late Neal and Elsie (Combs) Peterson.

Frank grew up in Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1947, and was honorably discharged in 1949, after sustaining an injury during his service. Frank worked at the Niagara Paper Mill as a pipe fitter, retiring after 43 years.

He married the love of his life, Betty June Hoveland, on June 14, 1952. They were married for 61 wonderful years; she preceded him in death on November 3, 2013.

Frank was very active in the community. He was a member of the Hiram D. Fisher Masonic Lodge #222 of Florence, Wis. and served as a Master Mason for 55 Years. Frank was an active member of the Niagara Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for his many years of dedicated service. He was also involved with the Niagara Park and Recreation and Trail. Frank was a dedicated member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Niagara.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time with his family and friends at the cottage and his faithful dog Teddy. Frank took pride in the beautiful rock wall he built over several years around his back yard, complimenting the natural rock bluff.

Frank is survived by four daughters, Lisa (Tom Anderson) Hendricks, Niagara, Kristie (Mark) Coats, Soso Miss., Wendy (Neal) Peterson, Green Bay, Wis., Paula (Mark) Christensen, Suamico, Wis.; one sister, Pauline Senecal; one brother-in-law, Jerry Lemke; seven grandchildren , Neil (Jenny) Hendricks, Ryan (Christina) Hendricks, Brenda Cheney, Michelle Cheney, Nicole Heckman, Kristel (Shane) Thrash, Marissa Christensen; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and special friend Marilyn Allen.

In addition to his parents and wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis (Fred) Schindler.

Frank was loved and adored by his family and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 19, 2015, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church, Niagara. The Hiram D. Fisher Masonic lodge No. 222 of Florence will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service, Thursday, 5:45 p.m., at the church. A Memorial Service will be held, 6:00 p.m. at the church. Rev. Henry Yoap will officiate. Burial will be Friday, March 20, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at the Niagara Cemetery, Niagara. The American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post No. 136 will accord Military Honors.
