Obituary for Mary O'Donnell (Minnucci)
Mary (Minnucci) O’Donnell died March 10, 2015, at the age of 100. She was born in Iron River, Michigan on April 21, 1914, the fourth of the six children of Melchiade and Annunciata Minnucci and since January, resided in Iron Mountain at Hyland Nursing Home.
She attended school in Iron River through the 8th grade when she left to take care of her mother who had been seriously burned in an accident, Mary being the oldest of the three children remaining at home; her father was killed in a mine accident when she was nine years old.
In 1934, she married Francis O’Donnell, and had one daughter, Louise Ann.
When she was 24, she was hospitalized for 2 ½ years in Powers’ Sanitarium with TB of the spine.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise, granddaughter, Kim (Calvin) Palmer, great-granddaughter, Nichole (Jerry) Marsland and five great-great-granddaughters.
Mary is preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers, her husband, Francis, a granddaughter, Renee Taetsch (Jim) Sype, a grandson, John Taetsch and a great-granddaughter, Cassandra Palmer (Josh) Stachura.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Friday, March 13, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. A Memorial Service will held 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Deacon Ron LeMire will officiate. Burial will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Stambaugh, Michigan at a later date.
The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain to honor Mary’s Legacy of Life.
