Josephine V.  Truel (Erspamer)
Josephine V. Truel, 90, of Niagara, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Maryhill Manor, Niagara.

She was born November 24, 1924, in Washington State, daughter of the late Frank and Charlotte (Bertagnolli) Erspamer.

Josephine grew up in Stambaugh, Mich. She married Phillip Truel in April, 1977; he preceded her in death on April 8, 2010. Josephine worked at the Stambaugh Hospital and Iron County General Hospital for many years until she retired. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, Mich. Josephine enjoyed going out to eat, dancing, crafting and the trips she took to the casino.

She is survived by two daughters, Rita (Donald) Gunville, Crivitz, Wis. and Mary Olson, Texas; one son, Allen (Lisa) McLean, Iron River, Mich.; one brother, Frank Erspamer, Calif.; one granddaughter, MaryAnn (Gene); four grandsons, David, Phillip, Jason and Jeremy; two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Jenna and many nieces and nephews; one step-son, Kenneth (Jan) Truel, Spread Eagle, Wis.; one step-daughter, Jan (Bill) Long, Duluth, Minn. many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Phillip, she was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Erspamer and one sister, Erma Johnson; one step-son, James Truel.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2015, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the church. Fr. Greg Veneklase will officiate. Burial will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Stambaugh, Mich.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel to honor Josephine’s Legacy of Life.
