Obituary for Betty E. Bourassa (Niemuth)

Betty E.  Bourassa (Niemuth)
Betty E. Bourassa, 82, of Niagara, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, Powers, Mich.

She was born October 13, 1932, in Weyauwega, Wis., daughter of the late Leonard and Clara (Handrich) Niemuth.

Betty graduated from Weyauwega High School and was Valedictorian of her class. She went on to attend nursing school in Milwaukee, Wis. and graduated as a registered nurse. Betty married Raymond Bourassa on August 29, 1953. He preceded her in death in 1995. She worked at Wood and Deaconess Hospital, Milwaukee, Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountain and the Oscar G. Johnson Veteran’s Hospital, Iron Mountain.

Betty enjoyed playing Uno, sewing, slow dancing, picnics, going to plays, gardening and ceramics. She collected greeting cards and liked animals. Betty participated in the choir. Her favorite music is country, polka, Big Band and Lawrence Welk. She preferred reading the Bible and Guidepost magazines. Betty was of strong Lutheran faith and was a member at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Kingsford, Mich.

She is survived by five sons, Dan (Aleda) Bourassa, Oconomowoc, Wis., Mike Bourassa, Niagara, Joe (Shelly) Bourassa, Brown Deer, Wis., Scott (Jacki) Bourassa, Kingsford and Aaron (Ann) Bourassa, Milwaukee, Wis.; one daughter, Sharon (Jon) Currie, Keller, TX; four sisters, Eileen, Lila (Larry), Annette (Jim), Carla (David); two brothers, Dan (Linda), Charles (Charlene); one sister-in-law, Lucinda Niemuth, Poy Sippi, Wis.; ten precious grandchildren, Tanya, Tony, Alysia, Mark, Cassie, Jake, Alaina, Courtney, Justin & Brady; eleven great-grandchildren, Destiny, Trentan, Blake, Eastan, Mylann, Emma, Aiden, Natalie, Arianna, Braxton & Raileigh and many nieces, nephews & other family and friends.

In addition to her parents and loving husband of forty-two years, Raymond, she was preceded in death by baby daughter, Diane; two brothers, Allen and Robert Niemuth; two sisters, Anita and Alice and three brothers-in-law, Harold, Bob and Charles.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel. Funeral Services will be Saturday, 2:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Tom Mackey will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery, Niagara.

The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel to honor Betty’s Legacy of Life.
