Obituary for Albert A. Zambon

Albert A. Zambon, 95, of Iron Mountain, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.
He was born April 13, 1917, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Ferdinand and Olive (Flessati) Zambon. Albert graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1935 and Business College, Milwaukee, Wis. in 1936. Albert married Elizabeth DePolis on October 11, 1941, in Spooner, Wis. She passed away on October 9, 1977.
Albert was in the needle trade all his life working from 1937 to 1949 at Hansen Gloves in Milwaukee, Kiel, and Clinton, Wis., from 1949 to 1955 at McCoy-Jones in Milwaukee, and from 1955 to 1979 at R & M Kauffman, Inc. (ladies dresses) in Savanna, Ill. and Clinton, Iowa, retiring in May 1979. After retiring he moved back to Iron Mountain.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Albert was active in sports playing baseball and basketball for Hansen Glove and the City of Kiel. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge, Holy Name Society, Illinois Youth Commission, Past-President of the Savanna Rotary and Savanna City Hospital.
Albert is survived by three sons, David (Shirley) Zambon, Longwood, Fla., Dan (Sharon) Zambon, Enon, Ohio, Joel Zambon, Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Norma (Edward) Ditz, Fredricksburg, Va., Jean (Raymond) Rack, Niagara Falls, N.Y., Marcella McGuire, Kingsford, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Christine (Michael), Jennifer, Katherine, Jessica, Leah (John), Trent (Jessica), Elizabeth (Erik), Lona; twelve great-grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Zambon.
The visitation will be Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
