IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. – William J. "Bill" Schupp, 68, of Iron Mountain, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016, surrounded by the love of family, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.
He was born November 29, 1947, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Anton and Louise (Tramontine) Schupp.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1965. He served in the United States Navy from 1965, until his honorable discharge in 1969. Bill was stationed in Corpus Christi, Brownsville and Kingsville, Tex. earning the rank of AME 3; he was an Oxygen System Tester and fueled planes that were training for Vietnam. He married Pam Murray in 1970 and raised three children. Bill worked for Eagle Tool Company as a machinist from 1969 to 1992. From 1993 until 2010 he worked for One Cut Above.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain, the American Legion Uren Cooper-Johnson Post No. 50 and the Iron Mountain VFW Post No. 3674. Bill was an avid Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings fan. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching Western movies and especially the time he spent with family and friends.
He is survived by two sons, Eric (Carrey) Schupp of Lake Orion, Mich. and Jay (Mari) Schupp of Sault St. Marie, Mich.; one daughter, Amy (Jim) Sewell of Seattle, Wash. and ten grandchildren, Mia, Ella, Lila, Logan, Nick, Jillian, Maxwell, Jonathan, Aaron and Jenna.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain. The Iron Mountain American Legion Uren Cooper-Johnson Post No. 50 will accord Military Honors at graveside.
