William A. Olson, 75, of Niagara, Wis., passed away Sunday, October 28, 2007, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountain, Mich.
He was born in Niagara on February 17, 1932 son of the late Arthur and Caroline Olson. William attended Niagara High School and graduated in 1950. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1954. While serving in the US Army, he received the United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, and Korean Service Ribbon with one bronze service star.
William married the former Lillian Bugalski on March 1, 1978 in Niagara. He worked at the Niagara Paper Mill as a pipe fitter for 42 years, retiring in 1991. William enjoyed working on his friend's farm, going to his cottage in the summer, gardening, and listening to the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers on the radio.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian; three sons, Donald (Heidi) Olson, Niagara, Daniel (Peggy) Olson, Knoxville, Tenn., Michael Olson, Westminster, Colo.; one daughter, Mary (Henry) Ford, Canon City, Colo.; father and mother-in-law, Joe & Auggie Bugalski, Niagara; two sisters, Jeanine Smith and Lou Ann Greenwood, both of Dunbar, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Chris, Miranda, Michelle, Amanda, Tony, Andrew, Ryan, Trevor; two great-grandchildren, Cody, Shawn; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Olson.
Private family visitation and funeral service will be held at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
