William Lloyd Miller, 87, of Alpha, passed away, Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at his home.
He was born May 22, 1926, in Alpha to the late Fred and Freda (Pultz) Miller. Bill served his country in the Navy during WWII. After the war he moved to Racine, Wis., he met and married Shirley Hansen in 1954; she preceded him in death in 1989. He worked as a machinist and punch press operator at Jacobson Manufacturing Co. Bill married Frances Schmitz Gibson on June 27, 1968, and she preceded him in death. They resided in Union Grove and Racine, Wis. He retired in the late 1980's and returned to Alpha.
Bill enjoyed reading westerns and stamp collecting, watching TV, studying the Bible, telling jokes and whistling. He loved the Upper Peninsula and the small town way of life that Alpha had to offer. The Miller family had a long history of mining in the Alpha area.
He is survived by one daughter, Roxanne Miller, Kenosha, Wis.; two step-sons, Bob Gibson, Racine, and James Gibson, El Dorado Hills, Calif.; three step-daughters, Pauline Gibson, Racine, Vera Anderson, Racine and Mary Gibson, San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Robert (Jeanne) Miller, Kingsford, Mich.; two grandsons, Jimmy Schiavo and Thomas (Jennifer) Miller, Kenosha; two great-granddaughters, Hannah & Hailey Miller, Kenosha; three step-granddaughters, Anne Gibson, Racine, Jennifer Lindgard, Fairfax, Va. and Lori Bruni, Centerton, Ariz.; one step great-grandson, Corbin Lindgard, Fairfax; three step-great-granddaughters, Leandra Gibson, Centerton, Sharae Gibson, Centerton and Nicole Bruni, Centerton and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Fred Miller, Wilbur Miller, James Miller, Clarence Miller, Charles Miller, John Miller and Joseph Miller and three sisters, Viola Miller, Marie Peters and Mae Nichols.
Graveside Services will be held, Wednesday, June 4, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls. Rev. Doug Johnson will officiate. The East Side Veteran's Council will accord Military Honors at graveside.
