William "Bob" Halls, 95, of Alpha passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at Marquette General Hospital, Marquette, Mich.
He was born May 21, 1919, in Iron River Township, Mich., son of the late William and Jennifer (Lyng) Halls.
Bob was raised in Gaastra. He worked for the CC Camps and later was a bus driver who transported the local residents from place to place. He married JoAnn Burak on January 31, 1953, in Crystal Falls, Mich.
They resided in Alpha for a brief period of time before moving to Mundelein, Ill. While living in Illinois he worked construction for many years before taking a foreman position with the village of Libertyville's Dept. of Public Works, retiring in 1991. Shortly after retirement they moved back to Alpha
Bob enjoyed keeping up his yard, gardening and was proud to be the oldest resident of Alpha.
He is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Steve Martin) Lauer, Arlington Heights, Ill and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ward, Bernard and Raymond and two sisters, Bernice and Audrey.
Private family services were held. Burial will be in Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec, Mich.
