Florence:
William S. Gross, age 75, of Florence, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, January 17, 2005, at Tender Care in Munising, Michigan.
He was born June 25, 1929, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, the son of the late William and Anna (Scott) Gross. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Jesse Schilling on December 30, 1950. She preceded him in death in January 26, 1998.
He worked for Western Wayne and the Inspection Bureau out of Milwaukee, WI, for many years, retiring in 1984, at which time he moved to Florence. William was a frequent visitor to the Florence and Iron Mountain area since 1957. He enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include two sons; Richard (Patty) Gross of Genesee DePot, Wisconsin, John Gross of New Berlin, WI, one daughter Christine (Walter) Holiday of Hurst, TX, one brother John (Joan) Gross of Mequon, WI, five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife Jesse, he was preceded in death by one son William Gross and one brother James Gross.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 22, 2005, from 9 – 11a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Florence, WI. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11:00a.m at the church with Fr. John Hephner officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in
Commonwealth, Wisconsin.
