Norway- William D. "Bill" Butterfield Jr., 60, of Norway, Mich., passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain, Mich.
He was born July 21, 1960, in Watseka, Ill., son of William Sr. and Nancy (Sims) Butterfield. Bill grew up in Niagara and was a graduate of Niagara High School, class of 1979. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. from 1980 until his honorable discharge in 1984. Upon returning from service, Bill worked for the Niagara Paper Mill for ten years and later for Grede Foundry, Kingsford, and Aurora Castings. He married Justine Collins on March 9, 1979.
Survivors include his wife, Justine Collins, his mother, Nancy Butterfield, Niagara, Wis.; three daughters, Billie Jo Butterfield, Iron Mountain, Mich., Brooke Butterfield, Iron Mountain, Mich., and Kylie Butterfield, Duluth, Minn.; six brothers, David Butterfield, Gwinn, Mich., Brian (Robin) Butterfield, Ohio, Stephen (Kristy) Butterfield, Wausau, Wis., Randy Butterfield, Iron Mountain, Mich., Dave (DeAnna) Butterfield, Aurora, Wis., and Howard (Ronnie) Butterfield, Niagara, Wis., three sisters, Cindy (Keith) Annear, Quinnesec, Mich., Christine "Cookie" Cazzola, Vulcan, Mich., and Lori Walters, Neenah, Wis.; six grandchildren, Aliyah, ShyAnne, Preston, Layne, Gavin, and Giana; two great-grandchildren, Willow and Wyatt; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his grandparents and his father, William Sr., Bill was preceded in death by one brother, Steven Butterfield.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at the Niagara Cemetery, Niagara, Wis. Rev. Fr. Michael Lightner will officiate. American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post #136 of Niagara, along with the American Legion Post #50 of Iron Mountain, will accord military honors at graveside.
